Experience the picture-perfect morning at Lake Bled
Have Soca river just for yourself
Capture Ljubljana's highlights diferently
Try star trail photography in the Alps
Capture Winter snowscapes in the mountains
Get creative with ice formations
Imagine frozen waterfalls, misty lakes with snow-covered trees, snowy mountain peaks changing colours as the sun is setting, gentle snowflakes falling slowly and you will know what we are talking about. Not to mention that the sunrise is quite late and therefore much easier to get out of bed to photograph:)
The winter offers some of the most beautiful photo opportunities in the Julian Alps.
Using the Lake Bled area as our base we will cover the most beautiful parts of the Triglav National Park and the surrounding area. Our main focus will be the quality of light and each day we will go out for sunrise and sunset. During the day there will be some time to do sightseeing and in the long winter evenings we can discuss photography workflow and post processing as well as review the photos we took during the day.
Photography
The workshop focuses on outdoor photography in the Slovenian Alps. A tripod and a polarizing filter are essential for great landscape shots and a cable release is recommended too. If the skies are clear, we can try star trail photography and maybe some time-lapse movies. Temperatures in winter can be unforgiving to the camera batteries so bring at least one spare, two are better. Winter frost presents a great opportunity for macro photography as well. Snowflake and ice crystal close-ups will require a macro lens.
Accommodation
We will stay at a family-owned pension situated close to Lake Bled. Breakfast and dinner are included in the workshop and will be served at our pension
The workshop includes
Accommodation with HB (4 nights) in a single room, airport transfers and all transportation during the workshop, expert photographer guidance.
The workshop excludes
Airfares, airport transfers other than to/from Ljubljana Airport (can be arranged), meals not mentioned in the itinerary, drinks, tips, optionals, entrance fees.
What to bring
Plenty of warm clothes! Waterproof outer layers are recommended.
Insulated and water-resistant boots with a higher "edge" and a good rubber profile, warm gloves/mittens, a windproof cap, sunscreen and lip balm, sunglasses, thermos bottle for hot tea and a flash light for darker parts of the day.
Additional notes
Winters in the mountains are reliable with snow, especially at higher altitudes. If the weather situation does not allow us to photograph in the Julian Alps, we have prepared "backup" locations, such as Velika Planina plateau, Rakov Skocjan and Lake Cerknica, Ljubljana old town or even Krizna Cave! Everything is taken care of with best photo opportunities in mind!
